Hospice Preview Reports Moving to iQIES for August 2026 Refresh
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is continuing its transition of hospice reporting into the Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES).
Beginning May 20, 2026, the May 2026 Hospice Provider Preview Reports and Hospice CAHPS Provider Preview Reports supporting the August 2026 Hospice Care Compare and Provider Data Catalog refreshes will be distributed in iQIES.
Additional Note: May 2026 Public Reporting Refresh Now Available
CMS has also made the May 2026 Hospice Quality Reporting Program quarterly refresh available on the Compare tool on Medicare.gov. This refresh includes updated assessment-based, CAHPS, CAHPS Star Ratings and claims-based measure scores using the applicable CMS reporting periods.
Preview Period Reminder: Providers have 30 days to review their latest Provider Preview Reports, from May 20 through June 19, 2026. CMS notes that reports will remain accessible in iQIES for 60 days total, and providers are encouraged to download and save copies for future reference.
As always, Simple continues to monitor regulatory updates like these to help hospice providers stay informed and prepared.
Key Change: Hospice Preview Reports Moving to iQIES
Hospice providers will now access the May 2026 Provider Preview Reports supporting the August 2026 refresh through iQIES, marking a shift from prior report access through QIES/CASPER.
These reports will be available in the Hospice Provider Preview Reports folder in iQIES and will support the August 2026 public reporting refresh for Hospice Care Compare and the Provider Data Catalog. If a provider uses Simple, these reports can also be found in the Simple platform.
CMS noted that users will need appropriate iQIES access through their Health Care Quality Information Systems Access Roles and Profile, or HARP, login credentials.
Reports Available May 20
CMS stated that the following reports will be distributed in iQIES on May 20:
- Hospice Provider Preview Report
- Hospice CAHPS Provider Preview Report
Example report names may include:
- Hospice Provider Preview Report (CCN) - August 2026
- HOSPC_CCN_CAHPS_for_Public_Reporting_Q3_2025.pdf
The Hospice Provider Preview Report can also be downloaded as a CSV file.
How to Access the Reports in iQIES
To locate the reports once available, providers should:
- Log into iQIES using HARP credentials
- Select My Reports from the Reports menu
- Open the Hospice Provider Preview Reports folder
- Select the desired report name to view report information
Providers that need assistance accessing iQIES should consult their organization’s designated Security Official or contact the iQIES Service Center.
Providers using Simple can access these reports directly in the Simple platform.
Additional Transition Item: FY 2027 APU Non-Compliance Letters
CMS also noted that Hospice Annual Payment Update (APU) Non-compliance Notification letters for Fiscal Year 2027 will be distributed in iQIES in July 2026.
These letters will be based on Calendar Year 2025 data submission.
This is another important step in CMS’s broader transition of hospice reporting activity into iQIES and reinforces the need for hospice providers to ensure appropriate users have access and know where to locate key reports and notifications.
New HQRP FAQ Resource Available
CMS also recently released a new Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP) Frequently Asked Questions resource. The FAQ addresses questions related to the HQRP, including the Hospice Outcomes and Patient Evaluation (HOPE) tool, quality measures, data submission requirements and reports.
The FAQ is available through the Hospice Quality Reporting Training and Education Library.
The HQRP FAQ Tool can also be found here.
What This Means for Hospice Providers
Hospice providers should prepare for these reporting updates by confirming that the appropriate team members can access iQIES and locate the Hospice Provider Preview Reports folder.
Organizations should also ensure teams understand where to retrieve preview reports, how to download and retain report files and where future APU non-compliance notifications will be distributed.
Providers may want to:
- Confirm iQIES access for appropriate users
- Review HARP login credentials and user roles
- Locate the Hospice Provider Preview Reports folder in iQIES
- Download and save reports once available
- Watch for FY 2027 APU Non-compliance Notification letters in July
- Review the new HQRP FAQ resource for additional reporting guidance
